You are more likely to be injured in a small car then in a big car = greater losses. Coupes are generlly faster = more losses. Popular cars get stolen = more losses. More needs to be written targeting the recent grad. Here are a few tips of mine:
Don't buy a new car - ever, but especilly right after school. Get a nice used card instead (www.edmunds.com) can help you find a cheap and reliable car. My suggestion, go with a Chevy Malibu - its cheap, they are very reliable (build quality at chevy is near par with the asian imports if you ask Mechanics) and gets good gas millage.

Never ever lease a car. No one needs a new car every 3 years and with the money you save from no leasing you could buy a BMW 745 stright cash homey.

invest in your employers 401(k) or open your own IRA right away.

Buy lots of stock with it, not bonds, you are young, you can ride ups and downs.

What do you think of pensions and 401 (K)'s? I'm rapidly finding that so many of my friends have no clue about taxes, retirement, savings, investment, the whole thing. Maybe there can be another focus for the blog...if I get the time!
